Happy reading everyone!

We have embarked on a wonderful voyage of learning as partners. As we continue to progress through our acquisition of expertise and knowledge collectively it is important that we continue to reflect and respond in dialogue form through the discussion board. Let us use these opportunities to share, converse and grow together as a learning community with a common mission, vision and global awareness in literacy for students with disabilities. In our work it is important to be able to facilitate growth and achievement for educators in all roles of student interaction, system and building leadership. One way to dothat is with the common knowledge base we have and are currently developing within oursleves.

As a learning community, we have decided that the following requirements would be instituted for the book Unmistakable Impact written by Jim Knight. We as a group believe that inorder for us to stay current as educational leader we too must continuously develop ourselves. Even though we are all very busy in the day to day hustle and bustle, we found the following to be appropriate expectations.

  • Read 2 sections of the book Unmistakable Impact per month
  • Respond to 2 colleagues comments (we ask that you sign in at least two times per month)
  • Answer the following questions within your commments:
    • How does it relate to our work on the Literacy Workgroup?
    • What 'aha' or new learning have you acquired?
    • If you have any questions, concerns and/or dsagreements about the content, what are they?
    • What aspects of the material reinforced your practice?

I have taken the liberty to move Michele and Lorri's posts to the discussion board on this page. Please continue to comment upon your colleagues thoughtful responses.
